Nishio area, Japan’s top producer of Matcha green tea has a root of Kyoto Daimonji yaki and Ashikaga family, and gives an impression of old Kyoto. Kento envoy ships brought Tang-way culture such as Rikuu’s tea culture, who was called chaso bone in China in the 8th century. In 1191, another chaso Eisai brought seeds of tea from Song and Myoe Shonin, who was the temple master of Kyoto Tuganoo Kozanji, cultivated the seeds and tea became popular. After then, Shoichi Kokushi who founded Jissoji temple, brought tea into Nishio area.
